Summer Intensive Auditions
Ballet West Academy is currently auditioning dancers worldwide for our 2025 Summer Intensives. In-person auditions have concluded, but video and virtual auditions are still open, in consideration for acceptance and placement to our summer programming. Auditions are open to dancers ages 9-20.
We have concluded our in-person domestic summer intensive audition tour. To be considered for any of our 2025 Summer Intensive programming, please attend a virtual audition, or submit a video audition.

Ages 9-12
Dancers ages 9 to 12 are invited to attend our virtual audition via Zoom, for acceptance and placement to our Young Dancer Summer Intensive programs. Students will be assessed on ballet technique, coordination, musicality, and performance quality.
Video auditions are accepted, but in person auditions are strongly preferred. Video auditions can be submitted from January 6, 2025 - March 31, 2025. Ballet West Academy and artÉmotion does not accept DVDs or video tapes. All videos should include:

Introduction must include full name, age, birth date, where they are currently studying ballet, and the names of their teachers.

Plié, tendu, dégagé, ronde de jambe par terre, fondu, développé, frappé, and grand battement.
Only one side needs to be included, for dancers applying for the Young Dancer Intensives.

Dancers, ages 9-12:
Adagio: Adagio combination with an emphasis on port de bras.
Turns: Combinations that include turns - turns can be chaine turns, pique turns, or pirouettes.
Petitie Allegro: Sauté in first, second, and changement in fifth.
Grand Allegro: Include sauté in first arabesque, pas de chat and saute de chat.
Dancers, ages 13-20: Adagio, pirouette en dehor and en dedan, petit allegro, and grand allegro.

Batterie and tour en l'air.

En pointe in center: Relevé, échappé, pirouette, and traveling turns.
Female dancers, age 11 and older, that have begun pointe work may include exercises en pointe at barre or in centre.
Pointe work is not required for the Young Dancer Intensive (especially for 9 and 10-year-old dancers). Please do not include pointe work if you have not already begun training en pointe with your current teacher. -

Ballet West Academy hosts auditions and placement classes year-round, for programming at our four Utah campuses — Salt Lake City, Park City, and Utah County. Read more about how to register for our in person and video options. Open to dancers ages 3-20.

For our Academy year-round programs: Beginning Division and Elementary A placement is purely by age. Registration is available online.
Elementary B through Elementary C placement is conducted with an in studio placement class. Schedule a placement class online for Salt Lake City, Park City, or Utah County campuses.
